The mechatronic unit controls clutch and gear selection through electronics and hydraulics. Pressure faults, internal valves, sensors, wiring, low voltage and mechanical gearbox faults can create similar symptoms.

Technical note

A mechatronic should not be condemned from a fault code alone. We review pressure behaviour, supply voltage, relevant sensors and transmission symptoms before deciding whether repair or replacement is appropriate.

Common reasons to book

  • Hydraulic pressure fault
  • Loss of gears
  • No drive or no reverse
  • PRNDS flashing
  • Intermittent neutral condition
  • Mechatronic communication fault

What we can assess

  • Transmission module scan
  • Pressure specification vs actual review where supported
  • Power and earth checks
  • Sensor/selector data review
  • Clutch and gearbox fault separation
  • Repairability assessment

Our workshop process

01

Identify the DSG/S tronic gearbox and confirm the complaint

02

Scan the transmission and review clutch, selector, pressure and adaptation data relevant to that gearbox

03

Test electrical, hydraulic or mechanical causes as required

04

Explain whether the next step is service, adaptation, clutch work, mechatronic repair or deeper mechanical inspection
